The Kyoto University Archives for Archeological Missions to Asia (KAAMA)

The KAAMA Database is an online resource of visual data collected mainly during field missions by the Japan Archeological Commission in Afghanistan and beyond. The structure of the Database reflects the structure of the physical, on-site Media archive at the Kyoto Uninversity Research Centre for the Cultural Science, Kyoto University.

We for now provide you with two ways of access our data.

  • Browse Archive: for those familiar with the regions and archeological sites.
  • Search: for persons who are not very familiar with the region, the system allows for a free-text search of all categories.

All images in the database belong to the Japan Archeological Commission and are meant for non-commercial usage. If you are planning to use any of our pictures for publications, please contact: kaama@kyoto-u.ac.jp KAAMA is currently under ongoing development.
